National Farmer's Day's History and Significance in 2023

National Farmer's Day, also called Kisan Diwas, is celebrated on December 23 in India. It honors growers as the backbone of the country. It commemorates the birth anniversary of India's former high minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.

In 2001, the government decided to observe his birth anniversary as Kisan Diwas or National Farmer's Day. This honors his benefactions to the husbandry sector and the weal of growers.

Charan Singh also served as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh doubly and played a crucial part in enforcing land reforms across the state.

In 1939, he proposed the Debt Redemption Bill, which helped free growers from moneylenders. He also wrote books on rescinding zamindari and enforcing land reforms.

In 1978, Charan Singh established the Kisan Trust. It was anon-political andnon-profit association. The association aimed to educate pastoral communities about injustice. It also aimed to promote solidarity among them.

National Farmer's Day events give growers a platform to state their requirements and pretensions. This is especially important because growers frequently face heads. These heads can occasionally lead to extreme measures, similar as self-murder.
